SPREAD THE WINNING STREAK AT WORK

ADOPTING key strategies to spread the winning streak at work will fuel an average team into a gear of high-performance. When each member works to not only see themselves succeed, but the entire group, teams not only meet but exceed company goals.

Redirect any “narcissistic” traits into a desire to see long-term results for the team and the company as a whole.

If you’re on the socials and we know you are. At least one of them. Very “busy” with that report, tending to that priority Support call or resolving that coding error. When really eyes are glued to a screen checking the “ticking and tocking” of the latest craze on TikTok. Specifically in the dating realm of social media, you’ve probably heard the buzzword “narcissist” flying around (could also have been a direct verbal slingshot from your significant other to your ears). There are countless videos of how to spot one or avoid being one. Often with individual work goals – like having your sights set on that promotion – “narcissistic” type behaviour may rear its ugly head. Not playing fair and disregarding your colleagues in your pursuit to the top.

Instead of focusing on only you, work to see your colleagues around you succeed as well.

Of course, it’s a given that to achieve any target, you need that self-drive from within. But in the workspace, the ego can create tunnel vision forgetting about the “bigger picture” objectives of the greater team. However, by adopting a “make everyone around you win” approach, this can see everyone elevate their efforts. This is how you smash not only your own goals, but inadvertently create a knock-on effect to spread the winning streak at work. If more people on the team are winning, it yields constructive and positive cohesion. This is the bottom line of teamwork after all – to have joints efforts result in a prolonged profitable run in the business.

Below are 3 key strategies to spread the winning streak at work.

This will ensure not only you win but the entire team wins, and ultimately, see the business thrive.

Mindset shift from “me to we” in every task you undertake -

If you get an instruction or directive that must take priority over what you were busy with, it can cause frustration. You’re only human after all. Even I personally don’t like dropping something mid-way and not completing what I was initially busy with. For example, getting that urgent CV compressed as it’s too large to send to the client via email. If you take two seconds to think about it, it could see a candidate bag the job sooner. This then translates into a placement for the Consultant. Also, in the greater scheme of things, it means money coming in from the client who employed that individual. Come month end – everyone gets paid😊

Don’t begrudge but rather welcome help and sharing in the rewards -

Let’s not argue with the fact that many of us prefer to be left alone when we work. Despite the growing workload, you want to go it alone. Slowly sinking in the thought pool of your mind, your grey hairs multiplying and your back aching. Suffering in solitude instead of taking the help that a colleague so graciously offered. The aid is not to discredit your abilities. Instead, to lift the weight of having too much to do and get the job done quicker. Here at Datafin we have meetings to examine each Consultant’s bag of promising candidates. Others on the team can be alerted to a stunning candidate which another Consultant they could use for their own roles. This often leads to successful shared placements.

Humans are at the core of not only the Recruitment industry, but most industries. This means you deal with human fallibility. Not to mention volatile economic climates. As the tots are taught – “Sharing is caring”. If we spread the winning streak, the company keeps moving forward and its staff stay employed.

Be open and really take feedback as constructive criticism –

According to best-selling author and motivational speaker Jon Gordon: “Positive leaders also listen to and welcome ideas and suggestions on how they can improve. They don’t fear criticism.” Often colleagues have great suggestions to help you resolve an issue – be open to it. Instead of viewing it as a negative crit, see it as a learning curve. Feedback can help you grow and enhance your skillset. If we work to better one another, a team becomes that much stronger and unified in achieving the company mission.
